Why
When Trump started running for president, it became clear that I would not be able to keep up with the depth and breath of his false statements and the many examples of his depraved behavior. I threw this site together just to help me keep track. I will stop adding to this log at the end of his presidency.
(Note: Care was given to accurately capture his quotes; the supporting text requires an edit.)
Total count of lies
Trump (the head of the Republican Party, #45, etc.) has made so many false claims that it is beyond the scope of this log to document them all. This log will focus on his more absurd statements. The following links offer running counts of his false statements.

After losing over four dozen law suits, here are some of the rulings regarding Trump's attack on our democracy:
- Dec 11, US Supreme Court: "Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another state conducts its elections,"
- Dec 8, US Supreme Court: "The application for injunctive relief presented to Justice [Samuel] Alito and by him referred to the Court is denied,"
- Dec 8, Michigan: "Plaintiffs ask this court to ignore the orderly statutory scheme established to challenge elections and to ignore the will of millions of voters. This, the court cannot, and will not, do,” ...“The people have spoken"
- Dec 4, Wisconsin: "We are invited to invalidate the entire presidential election in Wisconsin by declaring it ‘null’— yes, the whole thing. ...falls far short of the kind of compelling evidence and legal support” a court would need to “disenfranchise every Wisconsin voter... At stake, in some measure, is faith in our system of free and fair elections, …central to the enduring strength of our constitutional republic."
- Nov 27, Pennsylvania: "Tossing out millions of mail-in ballots would be drastic and unprecedented, disenfranchising a huge swath of the electorate and upsetting all down-ballot races too," Bibas wrote on behalf of a panel of three judges, all of whom were appointed by Republican presidents. Voters, not lawyers, choose the President," the court wrote. "Ballots, not briefs, decide elections.
- Nov 22, Pennsylvania: "This claim, like Frankenstein’s Monster, has been haphazardly stitched together… This Court has been presented with strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations, unpled in the operative complaint and unsupported by evidence. In the United States of America, this cannot justify the disenfranchisement of a single voter, let alone all the voters of its sixth most populated state. Our people, laws, and institutions demand more."
- Nov 19, Georgia: "To halt the certification at literally the 11th hour would breed confusion and disenfranchisement that I find have no basis in fact and law."
- Nov 6, Michigan: "This ‘supplemental evidence’ is inadmissible as hearsay. The assertion that Connarn was informed by an unknown individual what ‘other hired poll workers at her table’ had been told is inadmissible hearsay within hearsay, and plaintiffs have provided no hearsay exception for either level of hearsay that would warrant consideration of the evidence.
- Nov 2, Texas: "Here, the court finds the plaintiffs did not act with alacrity. There has been an increasing amount of conversation and action around the subject of implementing drive-through voting since earlier this summer"
“The Supreme Court really let us down. No Wisdom, No Courage!”

- Trump admits that he doesn't know that coronavirus is not a 'flu'
- and finally, Trump uses a racist term for coronavirus:
"Kung Flu"
(Newsweek): "Months earlier, White House counselor and former Press Secretary Kellyanne Conway condemned 'Kung Flu' as 'very hurtful and unhelpful,' demanding to learn the identity of an anonymous White House staff member who had reportedly used the term. 'I'd like to know who they are... you can't just say that and not name them. Tell us who it was," Conway told PBS's Yamiche Alcindor on March 18. 06-16-2020 Trump, commenting on Obama's and Biden's work on police reform after Trump unraveled their following efforts (NBC News):
- "In August 2017, Trump reversed an Obama policy that banned the military from selling surplus equipment to police, a measure that had been put in place amid criticism over the armored vehicles, tear gas and assault rifles used to control protests after the police killing of Michael Brown, 18, in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014."
- "In addition, in September 2017, the Justice Department said it would stop the Obama-era practice of investigating police departments and issuing public reports about their failings. For example, the Justice Department had investigated the Ferguson Police Department and found unconstitutional, unlawful and racist behavior and policing within the department."
- "When he served as Trump's attorney general, Jeff Sessions made it clear early on that he opposed consent decrees like the one struck in Ferguson, and he ordered a review of the Justice Department's more than a dozen consent decrees. Sessions said they 'reduced morale' of police."
"President Obama and Vice President Biden never even tried to fix this during their eight-year period. The reason they didn't try is they had no idea how to do it,"

06-09-2020 Trump, again without offering any evidence, fabricates boogeyman excuses for police assaulting a Mr. Gugino, 75, who is still in the hospital, recovering from the serious head wound they caused:
“Buffalo protester shoved by Police could be an ANTIFA provocateur. 75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment. @OANN I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up?"
Again, what kind of person does this?
05-29-2020 Twitter flags the following Trump post for violating rules about glorifying violence:
“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen,” Trump tweeted shortly before 1 a.m. Friday, adding, “Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts."
Why did Trump call these protestors "THUGS" but said that there were Neo-Nazi's in Charlottesville that were "very fine people"?

"There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent. Mail boxes will be robbed, ballots will be forged & even illegally printed out & fraudulently signed. The Governor of California is sending Ballots to millions of people, anyone....."
Note: This follows another tweet where he promotes a conspiracy theory about Joe Scarborough.
05-25-2020 Trump's non-response to this WHO (World Health Organization) warning about a second peak: “We need to be also cognizant of the fact that the disease can jump up at any time. We cannot make assumptions that just because the disease is on the way down now that it's going to keep going down, and the way to get a number of months to get ready for a second wave – we may get a second peak in this way,”:

Note: Here is what Trump tweeted back in 2014 when there was two cases of ebola in the United States: "President Obama has a major meeting on the N.Y.C. Ebola outbreak, with people flying in from all over the country, but decided to play golf!".

Note: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi voiced concerns about his use of the unproven hydroxychloroquine: “He’s our president, and I would rather he not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists,” Pelosi said, adding that Trump should be especially careful given his “age group” and his “weight group,” which she described as “morbidly obese.”

Some context for Trump's comments:
- Ten days ago Trump commented that we could see 50,000 to 60,000 deaths.
His prediction on total death count is met in 10 days (50,000 was met in 4 days). - In two months, we have lost more lives than in the entire Vietnam War.

Active cases: 750,284; Number of deaths: 50,236 (Worldometer)
Active cases: 750,284; Number of deaths: 50,236 (Worldometer)
"I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? As you see, it gets in the lungs, it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that." |
Note: Health care professionals disagree.
04-21-2020 Trump bragging about his ratings on the day 2,804 Americans died from the virus:
Active cases: 690,503; Number of deaths: 45,318 (Worldometer)
Active cases: 690,503; Number of deaths: 45,318 (Worldometer)
"I’ve had great “ratings” my whole life, there’s nothing unusual about that for me. The White House News Conference ratings are “through the roof”(Monday Night Football, Bachelor Finale , @nytimes) but I don’t care about that. I care about going around the Fake News to the PEOPLE!"
Note: Again I ponder the values of people who can support a man like this.
04-20-2020 Trump commenting that we may end up with 50,000 to 60,000 coronavirus deaths:
Active cases: 677,856; Number of deaths: 42,514 (Worldometer)

Active cases: 612,071; Number of deaths: 37,154 (Worldometer)
Active cases: 612,071; Number of deaths: 37,154 (Worldometer)
“should spend more time ‘doing’ and less time ‘complaining.’”
Some of Cuomo's responses:
- Trump should get up from watching TV and get to work.
- “If you want to point fingers — we built more beds than we needed — our only mistake was believing your numbers, believing your projections,”
- "Whose projections were wrong? Head of the CDC, Peter Navarro and head of the White House coronavirus task force. Fire them all. That's what I say. Fire them," Cuomo said. "You know that show the president did?"
- Regarding the governors' powers to reopen their states: “By the way, it was always up to the states, what are you going to grant me what the Constitution gave me before you were born?” he said. “I don’t need the president of the United States to tell me that I’m governor and I don't need the president of the United States to tell me the powers of a state. “
- “All he’s doing is walking in front of the parade, but he has nothing to do with the timing of the parade,” he said. “Governors are going to open when they need to open. “

“LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!”
Note: One day advising governors to “call your own shots” on reopening... on a day of 2,537 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
04-16-2020 Trump apparently changed what he said three days ago, “The president of
the United States calls the shots." was in fact false. Now he says to the governors:
Active cases: 585,455; Number of deaths: 34,617 (Worldometer)
Active cases: 585,455; Number of deaths: 34,617 (Worldometer)
“Call Your Own Shots,”
Note: Fortunately he is now acknowledging that our nations well-being is better left in the hands of the governors.
Note: In three days time, Trump performs a 180 degree flipflop regarding a fundamental concept for the correct coronavirus management for our country.

Active cases: 549,019; Number of deaths: 26,047 (Worldometer)
Active cases: 549,019; Number of deaths: 26,047 (Worldometer)
“So much death has been caused by their mistakes, ”
Note: Part of this shifting of blame is to cut funding to the WHO (about $500 million). For perspective, we are spending at least $100 million for Trump's golf (see top of page).
Bill Gates response: “Halting funding for the World Health Organization during a world health crisis is as dangerous as it sounds,”
Note: This is the day of the largest US daily death toll: 2407.
04-13-2020 After showing a Trump propaganda video during a coronavirus briefing, CBS’s Paula Reid asked Trump why so little was done
during Feburary in preparation for the virus (as dipicted in his video). Specifically she said: "“You didn’t use it to prepare hospitals,
you didn’t use it to ramp up testing,”. Trump responded:
Active cases: 526,353; Number of deaths: 23,640 (Worldometer)
Active cases: 526,353; Number of deaths: 23,640 (Worldometer)
“..disgraceful.”... “You know you’re a fake,”
Note: Trump is upset that someone would challenge his lack of response instead of the additional dead people caused by his inaction.
Note: This is the response of the president of the United States to any press that covers his failures.
04-13-2020 Having relinquished control of shutdowns to the governors, now Trump suggests he will assume control to reopen:
Active cases: 526,353; Number of deaths: 23,640 (Worldometer)

“The authority of the president of the United States, having to do with the subject we’re talking about, is total,” ... “The president of the United States calls the shots."
Trump continued with a threat: “If some states refuse to open, I would like to see that person run for election,”
Note: The governors who have assuming responsibility in during the federal vacuum have thoughts regarding Trump's new claim:
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D): “Seeing as how we had the responsibility to close the state down, I think we probably have the primary responsibility for opening it up.”
New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo: “We don’t have a king, we have an elected president,”
Related: Governors from New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island and Massachusetts formed a pact to coordinate on an eventual end to their states’ restrictions.
Related: Tenth Amendment - "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."
04-12-2020 Fauci made the following comment on CNN on Sunday:
“Obviously, it would have been nice if we had a better head start, but I don’t think you could say that we are where we are right now because of one factor,” ... “It’s very complicated.”

Note: A fascinating response from one of the Fox & Friends people, Jedediah Bila:
"Enough with the 3rd grade name-calling. Chris is doing his job. The news should not be any president’s friend, ally, or buddy. If it bothered you when Obama complained about Fox News, but you’re silent on this complete nonsense, then just stop. Seriously. Enough."
Note: Can you imagine having a president engaging in this behavior with over 22,000 deaths from the virus!!!
04-09-2020 Trump commenting on our coronavirus testing (which is about 1/2 the rate of Italy):

You’ve got to vote. They should have voter I.D., by the way, you really want to do it right, voter I.D.”
Note: New York now has more coronavirus cases than any other country in the world.
04-07-2020 Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said, “President Trump is abusing the coronavirus pandemic to

But when we have, you know, reports of bias and when we have different things coming in. I don’t know Fine. I don’t think I ever met Fine.”
Note: If you must commit crimes, you must attack crime fighters.
04-07-2020 Trump missing the fact that his handling of his virus has now exceeded the actual number of H1N1 deaths: 12,469:
Active cases: 365,820; Number of deaths: 12,841 (Worldometer)

Note: And his death count is just started...
04-06-2020 Trump, responding to questions about his administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic, specifically the Department of Health and Human Services inspector general's report warning of severe supplies shortages for hospitals in the US, including testing kits and safety gear for physicians.
